Life After Graduation (1)

Life after graduation is like you just succeeded in completing a big chapter in life and you will continue to the next chapter. After graduation, you might to pursue your education to a higher level or do other things like get a job. In order to be able to do these things, you may have to be far from your family or the people closest to you. In short, to go through the next stage of life after graduation, we face the ugly truth of life. In college, there are still lecturers who like to ‘chase’ and encourage you to do something. But in the real world, you just have to be able to take care of yourself. This does not mean that there are no more people you can rely on, but again you can only depend on yourself. A friends that you have in college, not all of them will be in keep contact with you. In fact, half of them might just be your fake friends. You end up being sort of picky friends.

College is the best time in our lives.
So much fun, less stress, great friends.

A lot of people said that campus life is more enjoyable than graduation life. For those of you who are very active on campus, you will surely feel homesick after becoming an alumnee. When I face the real world, I realized that what we had planned during college was not realistic. Don’t be surprised when many people were panicked and depressed after graduation. People around us (parents, relatives, neighbors) suddenly become so demanding and noisy. They are busy advising as if they know what we are supposed to do, which in my opinion, their advice is outdated and it will only be relevant if it was done 50 years ago.

The decisions we make after graduation become the most important decisions because they will determine other aspects of our lives. Trust me, the first job we choose will determine how much our salary is, how much free time we have, how we live in boarding houses, hangouts and lunch menus, and sometimes even determine who we will marry later.

I was happy until I knew that one day
my parents would stop giving me money

Again, life after graduation makes us feel the intense competition for work. A Bachelor’s degree does not guarantee you will get your dream job. Don’t get me wrong, you might be so confident in your “new title” but when reality bites, you will be faced with a situation where you can no longer be “picky” about job, especially when your parents decide not to support you financially. You might have a job which different from your academic background. The only advice that we know is just “Follow Your Passion” which is a lot of us failed to recognize it. We are very unlucky because we are still questioning about what we really want to do in life. I can say that only the lucky ones who can find out about their passion.

I am writing this to strengthen you because I feel the same way too. This is not a shameful, it is the normal phase that everyone goes through. Please don’t blame yourself because you know you are not alone. You better prepared to go through life as an adult. Adult life is more challenging and stressful. Enjoy your life all the time, good or bad. This is part of a beautiful journey of life.
